Technology Association of Hamilton County to Launch

The Hamilton County Alliance, the local economic development organization, is launching the Technology Association of Hamilton County. Information meetings have been held throughout the fall and the ideas/input from those meetings have been incorporated in the direction and plans for the Technology Association. 

Mark you calendars for January 19 from 7:30-9 am for the launch event. Watch for more details.

The Alliance is ecstatic about the interest and enthusiasm of the technology community in this effort and is looking forward to making the Technology Association a member-focused association. 

There are 7 peer groups identified within the Technology Association and several leaders have already stepped forward. Terri Eakins, Technology Partnership Group, Pat Chittenden, Ambrose Property Management, and Ron Brumbarger, BitWise Solutions have all agreed to lead peer groups. Members may select the peer group(s) their organization participates in.

As the Alliance prepares to launch the Technology Association in 2012, technology businesses are encouraged to join the Technology Association by the end of this year. This will position those organizations to be founding members of the Technology Association and leaders in the Association. Members will benefit from Collaboration, Strategic Intelligence, Visibility, and Talent. See the membership form for more details on each benefit area.

Business Plan Competition Candidates

Business owners wishing to compete in our business plan competition took part in a Business Plan workshop taught by Lorraine Ball earlier this week.  They also took a moment to tell us a bit about their businesses. Here are just a few of the excerpts from the session.

Mobile Shift: How the mobile internet is changing behaviors

Mobile phones are quickly becoming consumer’s primary device to stay connected with the world around them. In this anywhere, anytime world of connectivity, how are consumer behavior shifting and forcing companies to change the way they connect and engage their customers?

EAC Business Plan Competition is a Great Opportunity!

Do you have a business you want to start or one you want to grow? Finish Line Seeks Ideas From High School Seniors

Staying in touch with your customer base is essential for success in retail. Finish Line takes this concept one step further by actively seeking business ideas from teens on YouTube and incorporating their advice into the company’s strategic plans. Based on the YouTube videos, a Finish Line leadership panel selects three teams as Challenge finalists. Finalists are flown to Finish Line corporate headquarters in Indianapolis to present their findings to the company’s top executives.  Students from the winning team will be rewarded with an all-expense-paid trip to the DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida, courtesy of Finish Line. Kelties Restaurant in Westfield

The IBJ’s video feature Inside Dish focuses on Kelties, a Hamilton County restaurant located in Westfield. Keltie Domina started her business as an etiquette-training school and has grown the restaurant into a lunch-and-dinner restaurant that relies on catering for close to half its total sales. Kelties has had to make some adjustments in 2010 to respond to the impacts the recession has had on her business. Click here to listen to Keltie as she talks about the evolution of her business.
